Bigbury on Sea Beach
Bigbury on Sea has the largest sandy beach in South Devon and is in an area of outstanding natural beauty.The broad golden sands stretch south to Burgh Island and a sparkling sea beyond. It is ideal for holidays.The Blue Flag beach offers golden sand, shallow water, and rock pools with a selection of water sports (body boarding , surfing, wind surfing, kite surfing ).There is good disabled beach access and Venus café hires beach wheelchairs . Parking — There is a pay car park for 300 cars close to the beach administered by South Hams District Council
Toilets — There are public toilets, including disabled toilets, situated close to the beach
Dogs — Dogs are not permitted on the main beach between 1st May and 30th September but are allowed on the far eastern side all year.
Cafe — The Venus Company runs a cafe on the beach open 10am - 5pm (July & August: 10am - 6pm)
Shop — The beach shop sells beach stuff and souvenirs and is seasonal .
Surf School — Learn to surf at Bigbury-on-Sea and Challaborough Bay with South Devon’s premier surf school since 2002, Discovery Surf School.
Sea Tractor — The unique sea tractor carries people from the Bigbury on Sea beach to Burgh Island and vice-versa when the tides are covering the causeway - check out the wikipedia entry.
Lifeguards operate from May to September and have a first-aid room
